The April crew tackled three projects.
One crew hiked the Link-Cedar Run-White Oak loop with crosscut and chain saws, cutting numerous blowdowns that had blocked the tread. Another group started rebuilding the White Oak-Link Trail stream crossing. The third team rebuilt a section of tread on the White Oak Canyon trail that had braided around several trees and had widened and begun to erode.
After a brief happy hour in the White Oak Canyon parking lot, the crew moved to the Blue Rock Inn to undertake the long-awaited Sperryville Burger Showdown, pitting the burger chefs from the Burger Barn against their counterparts at Blue Rock. Results will be published in the upcoming Washingtonian article "Blue and White Dining Picks", as well as in the Zagat Survey.
After dinner, at the Meadows Cabin, the crew was treated to a slide show from the recent Amigos' trip to Costa Rica, featuring scenes of the El Cornelio nature reserve, our pals Adilio and Ivan (and crew), street scenes from the side trip to Nicaragua, and the oddly-glowing gringos.
